Rose Bowl Information:
Rose Bowl is nicknamed "The Granddaddy of Them All" and is the oldest college football Bowl game. It started way back in 1902 in Pasadena , California . Rose Bowl football game was initially featured as part of the “Tournament of the Roses” initiated by the Pasadena Valley Hunt Club which wanted to show the world how beautiful their roses in full bloom are.
The Rose Bowl has been an unparalleled attraction ever since 1947, when the game featured Pac 10 vs. Big Ten as part of the Tournament's elite agreement with the Pacific Coast and Big Ten Conferences. Since the agreement was signed in 1947, Rose Bowl has always featured championship teams of these two conferences. It was the 52 nd anniversary of that agreement during the 1998 Rose Bowl Game. This agreement has the honor of being the longest tradition of any collegiate conference and a bowl association. However, Rose Bowl has gone beyond the traditional Pac 10 vs. Big Ten format on two occasions because they could not qualify for the bid.
The current agreement, which will run till the 2014 Rose Bowl game, states that Pac 10 and Big Ten will retain their bids. However, if either conference is unable to fill the bid and a non-BCS school qualifies, Rose Bowl is required to feature that school for the year.

The stadium was originally built in the shape of a horseshoe. But over the years, it has expanded several times. In 1928, the southern stands were completed. This made the stadium a complete bowl.
